Emily Herdman is the Supervisor of Integration and Sector Alignment for the Environmental Services division. She supports project development and implementation in Environmental Impacts and Biodiversity Monitoring, while also nurturing strong relationships with key partners and progressing strategic planning for priority areas.
Bringing the right people together to solve complex client problems is what Emily enjoys most about her job. Her projects have included industry, academic, government, regulator partners, among others, reflecting her broad network and focus on collaborative approaches to achieve meaningful outcomes.
Prior to her current role at InnoTech Alberta, Emily was the Science Director for the Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute (ABMI). She continues to facilitate integration between ABMI and InnoTech Alberta to leverage complementary strengths in order to tackle broad problems and issues. Beyond ABMI, Emily’s work history includes a variety of positions in Alberta Environment and Parks, giving her broad experience and network in policy, planning, and management of the environment; from water to air to biodiversity.
Emily credits her early career as a wildlife biologist to her genuine love of the outdoors. When she is not at work, she camps, hikes, and tends her garden. She has recently started indoor food gardening as a respite from Edmonton’s harsh winters.
