InnoTech Alberta’s Monitoring, Analytics, and Informatics Services division leverages the expertise of our Research Chemists and Technologists to develop unique sampling and testing solutions. We enable our clients to remain at the forefront of industrial innovation and environmental stewardship.    

We assist our clients in meeting their environmental monitoring obligations, understand the effects of their operations on the environment, and consider any pollution mitigation technologies based on environmental standards and limits.

Cannabis Quality

Our experts assist hemp and cannabis producers with understanding the physical, chemical, and genomic properties of their products. We are fully licensed and regulated by Health Canada to examine cannabis plants, topicals, liquid ingestible, and edibles. The suite of services we offer are: 

• Validated microbial analyses per European Pharmacopeia 
• Total yeast and mold count 
• Total aerobic microbial count 
• Bile-tolerant gram-negative bacteria 
• E. coli 
• Staphylococcus aureus 
• The confirmatory ID of fungi and bacteria 
• Heavy metal (arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury) or metals profile (33 metals) 
• Regulatory potency (THC & CBD potency and 6 cannabinoids) or potency and cannabinoids (includes potency and 16 cannabinoids) 
• Terpenes (21 terpenes) 
• Pesticide residues (106 compounds)
• Mycotoxins (aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, G2 & ochratoxin)
• Evaluation of materials for regulatory compliance: 
  • Fertilizer, growth media, biocontrol agents, etc.  

Proficiency Testing Services

InnoTech Alberta administers the International Quality Assurance Exchange Program (IQAEP), an interlaboratory proficiency testing program consisting of a series of petroleum related tests, frequent exchanges of a wide range of refined petroleum products and rapid report turnaround times. Proficiency testing is a valuable tool to evaluate laboratory performance; providing an objective means to monitor test methodology, personnel and reporting procedures. The IQAEP Refined Fuel and Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) proficiency testing schemes are accredited under the ISO/IEC 17043 standard.
