Janet Marowitch is the Manager of the Fermentation group at InnoTech Alberta. In this role, she leads the team in contracting fermentation services and assisting partners with the development, optimization, and scale-up of products from biological processes. Janet gains satisfaction from the work she and her team do when their partnerships lead to the launch of successful novel technologies.
Companies that have developed biological processes at bench scale, can utilize the equipment (fermenters from 20 L to 10,000 L along with associated downstream equipment) and expertise (achieved through over 30 years of operation) of the team to test the technical and commercial viability of processes and to produce commercial quantities for market testing and initial sales.
Janet has supervised her team’s growing experience with a broad range of processes including soil inoculants, biopesticides, biomaterials, and lipids and proteins. She has also seen the fermentation plant transform into an important tool in development with the largest fermenter in public ownership in North America. The facility is an important tool in in deployment of this technology as the equipment and expertise required is expensive and often beyond the reach of companies developing new processes.
