Frank is the manager of the Bio-Industrial Pilot Facilities & Operations team and has over thirty years of experience in many different areas including pulp & paper, fibre processing, and biomass product development. His predominant focus is on renewable forestry and agricultural materials in the bio-industrial sector. His roles have varied through his career with the majority of the activities over the last several years servicing clients and stakeholders.
He has played key roles in both in the design and construction of the Cellulose Nanocrystal pilot plant and in the development of pulp and paper facilities that are still in operation providing service and support for the industry and since then has diversified its capabilities to investigate both wood and agricultural fibres.
In this role, Frank leads a team with the capability for a broad range of fee-for-service offerings from engineered composites and fibre processing to agricultural crop testing and inoculum production. He finds it exciting to interact and work alongside of a diverse and immensely talented group of scientists, engineers, and technologists.
Frank enjoys cycling, hockey, coaching ringette, film, music, the arts, and travelling. He believes the Olympic Men’s and Women’s 100m race is the greatest 10 seconds in sport, and that Han shot is first!
