The two-day event saw 20 presentations that spanned updates on MARIOS projects to shared insights on new technologies and experiences from the field. The event also included an expo space where companies displayed new technologies, answered questions and networked with attendees.
With approximately 170 attendees hailing from across Canada, the United States, and Europe, this was the highest attended Technical Workshop to date. Get full details.
Project Focus
While process water pipelines in Alberta mining operations continue to face corrosion challenges, recent advancements offer practical and scalable solutions.
In‑situ coating and lining technologies that have been successfully applied in municipal infrastructure are now being evaluated for rehabilitating oil sands process water pipelines. Robotic and pigging-based application methods show strong potential to reduce turnaround time, lower repair costs, and significantly extend asset service life.
Building on laboratory screening of over 60 candidate materials (2024–2026), ongoing pilot-scale testing and field demonstrations are validating performance and helping bridge the gap between emerging application techniques and quality control requirements for these systems.
