InnoTech Alberta is a recognized Validation and Verification Body (VVB) with the Standard Council of Canada (SCC) for third-party validation services under ISO 14065.

A third-party validation is initiated by an emission offset project developer to support the project design and inform appropriate monitoring, data collection, and calculations for the emission offset project. The validation occurs before the emission offset project begins and focuses on whether appropriate baseline and project conditions are used and whether the calculations of potential emission offsets are correct.

InnoTech Alberta’s VVB operates under Alberta’s Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) Regulation and is accredited with the SCC to perform third party validation engagements in the following sectors.

  • GHG emission reductions from industrial processes (non-combustion, chemical reaction, chemical fugitive emissions, flare & venting from oil, and other)

Commitment to Impartiality

Senior Management of InnoTech Alberta are committed to impartiality with regards to services provided under its Greenhouse Gas Validation Program.

Conflict of interest for Validation engagements are managed through an impartiality assessment process. This impartiality assessment process is designed to determine if a real, apparent or potential conflict of interest could exist between InnoTech’s VVB and the client.

If situations are identified that may compromise the Validation assessment team’s ability to remain impartial, then appropriate action to mitigate or eliminate the impartiality risks will be taken.

InnoTech’s VVB encourages feedback from any party, client, stakeholder, or members of the public regarding any matter that may be construed as a threat to InnoTech’s VVB impartiality in provision of its Validation service.
