Overview

The Fermentation team de-risks biologically based processes by optimization, evaluation, and scale-up testing.

The Fermentation team operates under the Food and Fibre sector. 

As a product moves from the lab to the market, InnoTech works collaboratively with clients to develop a commercially viable production process for microbial fermentation based procedures. Services include:

  • Scale-up from shaker flask to 15,000L
  • Process optimization using a planned set of parameter variations in multiple computer monitored bioreactors
  • Ongoing production services

InnoTech has helped the industry scale-up products in the areas of:

  • Veterinary vaccines
  • Aquaculture vaccines
  • Pharmaceutical intermediates

  • Recombinant proteins

Staff are experienced with more than 50 different species of microorganisms. They can develop procedures for numerous different organisms and expression systems, both wild type and recombinant, including:

  • Bacteria - E.coli, Streptomyces
  • Yeast - Pichia, Saccharomyces
  • Algae
  • Fungi
  • High cell density (fed batch fermentations)

A quality program is available to support your process development or meet your analytical needs.

Technology transfer

InnoTech can provide clients with manufacturing and technology transfer to regulated manufacturing facilities by access to a network of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) alliances.

Microbial fermentation equipment

Numerous equipment options exist for development and scale-up of production processes:

  • Fermenters from 20L to 15,000L, with capability for
    • Oxygen enrichment (most fermenters)
    • Real-time data acquisition of standard parameters including off-gasses by mass spectrometry

    • Disc stack (up to 10,000 L/hr flow operating volume)
